Episode 54

Cuba

Cuba was the Spanish empire’s most important source of raw sugar in the 18th century. Today it is said to produce the finest cigars in the world. Bacardi Rum originally was made in Cuba, but when Fidel Castro came into office, its production was moved to Puerto Rico. It’s also known for having the most enduring trade embargo imposed on any country in history, this by the United States.
