Episode 56

Czech Republic

The world’s largest ancient castle is in the capital city, Prague, equal in size to about 7 football fields. Prague is known as the “City of a Hundred Spires” due to its breathtaking Gothic, Renaissance, and Baroque architecture. The country has the highest per capita beer consumption in the world; maybe they can blame that on the fact that this is where Pilsner beer originated. It’s home to the oldest functioning astronomical clock in the world displaying Babylonian time, Old Bohemian time, German time, and Sidereal time. Mineral springs are the focus of many quaint spa towns and the deepest freshwater cave in the world, at 1 km or .62 miles deep, is in the eastern part of the country.
